Anritsu, in collaboration with Sony Semiconductor Israel, is testing the industry's first NB-IoT test model for a terrestrial network (NTN) in CAG76

Anritsu Corporation is pleased to announce that the first tests for compliance with the NTN NB-IoT protocol have been confirmed on the 5G NR ME7834NR mobile device testing platform based on the Altair device from Sony Semiconducto

Anritsu Corporation is pleased to announce that the first tests for compliance with the NTN NB-IoT protocol have been confirmed on the 5G NR ME7834NR mobile device testing platform based on the Altair device from Sony Semiconductor Israel (Sony).

NTN NB-IoT is a key feature of the Internet of Things, which is useful in cases where devices need to be deployed in remote regions without terrestrial cellular network coverage. This is especially useful for tracking assets in marine, logistics, mining, automotive and other fields.

"The release of 17 3GPP, which is described as the next stage for 5G and LTE, NTN opens up new use cases and monetization opportunities for vertical segments of the industry," said Kameda Keiji, general manager of the mobile solutions division at Anritsu Corporation. "We are proud that our collaboration with Sony allows us to help the industry approve, new features are quickly brought to market and allow for certification in GCF/PTCRB, which allows certified devices to be used for new applications."

Compliance tests are defined by 3GPP in TS 36.523-1, meeting the basic requirements of TS 36.331, and were presented to Working Group 5 of the 3GPP Radio Access Network (RAN WG5) by Anritsu.

"We are thrilled with our partnership with Anritsu," said Christophe Flechel, director of systems engineering at GM France at Sony Semiconductor Israel. "By implementing the certification program for NTN, we are paving the way for faster integration of critical satellite technologies into tracking devices and wearables. This collaboration marks a significant step towards technological progress and widespread adoption in the industry."
