Anritsu Corporation is pleased to announce that as a member of the O-RAN ALLIANCE and TIP OpenRAN Project Group, it has successfully participated in three events of the O-RAN Global PlugFest Fall 2022, namely:

• Kanagawa, Japan. PlugFest in Japan, organized by KDDI, NTT DOCOMO, Rakuten Mobile, Softbank and Yokosuka Research Park (YRP) at Japan OTIC (Open Testing and Integration Center). Anritsu joined PlugFest in collaboration with Rakuten Mobile Inc. and NEC Corporation. The test bench consisted of the NEC O-RU solution and the Anritsu O-RAN solution. At PlugFest, O-RAN WG4 compliance tests were conducted using S/M/C/U-Plane testing scenarios defined by WG4 O-RAN. In addition, the throughput performance of E2E (end-to-end) was evaluated by adding synchronization errors on the S-plane.

• Durham, North America. PlugFest organized by the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL). Anritsu joined PlugFest in collaboration with Fujitsu Limited (later renamed Fujitsu). The test stand consisted of Fujitsu's O-RU (O-RAN Radio Unit) and Anritsu's O-RAN test solution. At PlugFest, "time error input tests" on the S-plane and functional tests of status change messages reported by O-RU were tested, along with WG4 O-RAN, certain S/M/C/U-plane test scenarios.

Anritsu's O-RAN test solution used at the facilities consisted of Anritsu's O-DU emulator, Network Master Pro MT1000A, and an MS2850A signal analyzer.

In addition, Anritsu participated in the joint European O-RAN and TIP PlugFest festival organized by Deutsche Telekom, EANTC and Vodafone in Berlin, Germany. Anritsu has offered its unique MT1000A network tester for synchronicity tests. The tester supports synchronicity tests for Sync-E, IEEE 1588 Packet Time Error and drift analysis.

By participating in PlugFests, Anritsu provides diversity in the testing of the O-RAN ecosystem and contributes to the creation of secure mobile networks by offering test scenarios that best match the real field network environment.

The Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) has open interoperable interfaces that promote supplier diversity, foster innovation, and reduce time to market. However, O-RAN creates more problems for network synchronization and requires more thorough compatibility and performance testing. Key O-RU testing challenges include how to simplify the configuration of O-RAN forward traffic parameters, how to accurately synchronize the device with all network elements, and how to evaluate O-RU performance — not only using standardized test cases, but also using test scenarios closer to the real situation in the field network. Anritsu offers a unique O-RAN test platform to solve these problems.

The MS2850A signal Analyzer, operating in the range from 9 kHz to 32 or 44.5 GHz, is a high-performance RF signal analyzer that supports an analysis bandwidth of up to 1 GHz. It also offers excellent unevenness and a parasite-free dynamic range to support broadband measurements such as 5G mobile communications and satellite broadcasting equipment.

Network Master Pro MT1000A is a universal transport network tester for speeds from 1.5 Mbit/s to 100 Gbit/s using various technologies and support for PTP/SyncE tests in the synchronization plane (S-Plane).
